Plugging a video channel: All about Climate

Posted on 29 March 2023 by BaerbelW

All About Climate is a Youtube channel dedicated to communicating climate science and combating misinformation about global warming. It is run by Roshan Salgado D'Arcy - or 'Rosh' for short. He is a geology graduate with an MSc in climate change and is currently reading for a PhD in the communication of climate change at University College London (UCL). He also works professionally in television production on science and wildlife documentaries.

His videos are intended to educate and are informed by and cite (where relevant) scientific literature. They are also entertaining which is why we decided to give his channel a bit of a boost as he deserves (a lot) more than the not even 3K subscribers he currently has.

Here is a sample of his videos to "showcase" his work, each with a description based on what Rosh provided on Youtube for it.

How To Measure Climate Change (Temperature Anomalies Explained)- published Sep 17, 2021

How do we measure climate change? In this episode of climate basics Rosh investigates the importance of tracking global temperature change and why scientists use temperature anomalies rather than absolute temperature to track changes in climate. In addition to temperature there are other climate metrics which can be used to track change including sea levels, ice sheets and ocean temperature.

Björn Lomborg Debunked - published Feb 25, 2022

In this video, climate change claims made by climate skeptic Bjorn Lomborg on Prager University (PragerU) are fact checked and debunked. He routinely cherry picks science and misrepresents facts to imply that global warming is better than expected. He attacks renewable energy, notably solar and wind, and other climate solutions while ignoring or downplaying the costs of fossil fuels and the effects of greenhouse gasses- melting ice, sea level rise, droughts, tropical storms, wildfires and other extreme weather events. Lomborg's video, while not explicit climate denial, undermines climate action and the fight against the climate crisis.

5 Things You NEED To Know About Climate Change - published Feb 10, 2023

Climate Change is complicated, but in this episode about climate basics Rosh explains five important facts that have to be understood if we are to successfully halt global warming and implement effective climate actions and solutions. Are we doomed? Can global heating be stopped or reversed? Is renewable energy like wind and solar viable and how much does it cost? What is net zero? And what can you do about climate change?

When Was it Last This Hot? (Climate Change in Context) - published Mar 9, 2023

How significant is global warming compared to the past? When was it last this hot? Earth’s climate has always changed but that doesn’t mean that modern climate change is natural. In this video the focus is on the paleoclimate record to see deep into earth’s geologic history so that we can find out when it was last this hot and get a glimpse of what the climate future might look like.

Ben Shapiro vs. Facts: How Wrong Is He About Climate Change? - published Mar 16, 2023

In this video, Rosh reacts to Ben Shapiro’s claims about climate change & global warming and tests them against scientific research and evidence. Are they factual? Or will they be debunked? How do they hold up against climate science?

This is just a small sample of the videos Rosh has been publishing over the last 3 years and there are many more to watch on his channel All about Climate. Check them out and if you like what you see, subscribe to the channel to not miss any of his videos. They'll be well worth your time!
